Welcome to the New England HIMSS Chapter Website!

 

The New England HIMSS Chapter works hard to bring education, collaboration and networking opportunities to our members all over the six-state region. Keeping up in the ever-changing, fast paced world of Healthcare IT can be overwhelming, even for the most seasoned professionals.

Our mission is to not only keep up with the changes that impact quality, safety and efficiency but to be a leader so please join us and participate in the events planned for our chapter year: Calendar of Events

Paulo

President

Paulo Farqui

Paulo Farqui is a healthcare management professional with over 15 years’ experience providing strategic advisory, interim management, and technical expertise to health systems in New England and across the country. He has a proven track record and ability to deliver successful outcomes in rapidly changing environments, and has deep expertise in digital health, healthcare strategy and operations, and emerging technologies. His focus and passion lie in managing projects & teams across the healthcare ecosystem to effectively drive change and generate lasting results. Paulo has been an active member of HIMSS since 2012, and has served on the Executive Board and on multiple committees of the New England Chapter. He is a strong advocate for inclusion and respect, and has participated and led committees focused on diversity and inclusion. A life-long learner and mentor to junior colleagues and professionals, he holds a Masters of Science in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and an MBA from the University of Maryland, College Park. In his spare time, Paulo loves to travel, try new cuisines, and spend quality time with his wife and two sons, further reason why he’s never shy to make dad jokes and puns.

 

Dana

 

President Elect

Dana Locke

With over 25 years of experience in Healthcare IT, Dana has worked for various software vendors, healthcare organizations, and consulting firms. Throughout her career, she engaged directly with health systems executives, clinical caregivers, and key stakeholders across New England and the nation, all dedicated to advancing the use of technology to enhance patient care, access, equity, quality. Her goal is to continue enhancing the New England HIMSS chapter's reputation, collaborating closely with members to offer impactful programs, expanding membership to include aspiring healthcare IT and management professionals, and leaving a lasting impact on the industry and community. 

Over the last year, Dana has served as the Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee and worked closely with the board to market the great programing that our chapter has to offer. Dana is dedicated to advancing the chapter's mission of transforming the healthcare ecosystem through the power of information and technology.

 

Renee

Immediate Past President

Renee Broadbent

Renee Broadbent joined SoNE HEALTH as Vice President of Information Technology in January of 2021, later assuming the role of Chief Information Officer in 2022. Renee leads SoNE’s data and technology strategy, and oversees data security for the organization. Renee is a senior-level healthcare executive with extensive background in strategic planning, information technology, population health management and data security. She has held the role of Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer in both hospital health systems and Managed Care Organizations (MCO). Prior to joining SoNE HEALTH, Renee served as Senior Manager at Wolf & Company, P.C. and as AVP of Population Health Information Technology and Strategy at UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

Liza

Treasurer

Liza Cameron

Liza Cameron brings more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, working front lines early in her career in the lab and spending the last 23 years in healthcare information technology. Liza is a Massachusetts native and double Husky graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science and Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Informatics.  Liza currently the Director of the Data & Analytics Demand, Product Support and Usability team at Mass General Brigham. Liza is a proven leader for large scale enterprise-wide initiatives including the management of Epic interoperability initiatives and implementations and possess a well-rounded knowledge of revenue cycle and clinical operations. Liza is currently serving as the President for the New England HIMSS.

 

 

Matt

Member at Large

Matt Bornstein

Matt Bornstein started working in IT immediately after he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. He spent most of his early career working in healthcare consulting, building his project management and leadership skills, working on many engagements within the new England region and across the country. Utilizing his background in IT, he helped to develop new tools and technology services for his clients and build a new service line within his organization. Matt joined the inaugural class of the Health Informatics graduate program at Northeastern University in 2007 to further expand his knowledge of the growing informatics field.

Soon after graduating, he started volunteering for the New England HIMSS chapter and has been fortunate to speak at a number of events. Matt was the chapter president from 2017-2018, continues to serve on various committees and maintains a steady presence at chapter events. This involvement and chapter member engagement has driven Matt to pursue new career opportunities in healthcare IT, most recently as the IT Director of a Boston-based physician organization.

 

Patrick

Member at Large

Patrick Streck

Patrick Streck is a seasoned business and technology executive with extensive experience in healthcare, financial services, and cloud platforms. From 2013-2022, Patrick served as the Senior Director of I&T Services at Baystate Health, with oversight to technology support, biomedical engineering, and the IT PMO. In addition, from 2018-2022, Patrick helped found and then run baytechIT, a healthcare focused managed service provider. Beginning in 2023, Patrick founded Estli Consulting, where he works with organizations and companies to develop new capabilities and optimize operations in the rapidly evolving healthcare marketplace.

Patrick's professional journey began on a help desk, where he gained invaluable insights into user experience and technical support, laying the foundation for his career trajectory. His experiences range from leading AGILE software development to executive-level client management to running entire organizations. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to giving back, dedicating time to volunteer and board work. His volunteer experiences have not only enriched his understanding of community needs but have also honed his leadership abilities, fostering collaboration and innovation in diverse settings.
